Truckers Should Plan on Extra Time and Consider Using Alternate Rest Locations; Limited Parking will be in Effect Until Approximately 3 p.m. Monday, January 7

(January 4, 2008) -- As part of the State of Maryland’s dedication of the I-95 Southbound Welcome Center to Governor Harry R. Hughes, tractor-trailer parking will be limited on Monday, January 7 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Trucks will be directed to appropriate parking locations by flag persons who will be stationed at various locations at the welcome center.

The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) recommends that truckers use the welcome center located along northbound I-95 directly across the highway from the southbound welcome center. Parking will become limited as guests and staff begin to arrive at 11 a.m. on Monday. SHA expects parking to return to normal levels at approximately 3 p.m. A complete list of welcome centers and rest facilities is located on the SHA webpage at: http://www.marylandroads/keepingcurrent/maintainRoadsBridges/OED/roads/restarea.asp.

SHA appreciates motorists and truckers’ patience during the dedication ceremony and reminds all highway users to obey the posted speed limit, stay sober and remain alert while driving on roads and highways.
