***TRAFFIC ALERT*** MDOT SHA TO RECONSTRUCT A SECTION OF MD 68 IN WILLIAMSPORT, WASHINGTON COUNTY

​Tomorrow and Wednesday, Crews Will Repair Potholes, Repave Roadway

(July 26, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close and detour a section of MD 68 in the Williamsport area of Washington County tomorrow and Wednesday, July 28. On both days, crews will work 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to repair potholes and repave the surface of the roadway between Fenton Avenue and US 11/E. Potomac Street.      

  • Eastbound MD 68 motorists will be detoured to Cedar Ridge Road, eastbound US 40, southbound MD 63, southbound US 11, back to eastbound MD 68.
  • Westbound MD 68 motorists will be detoured to northbound US 11, northbound MD 63, westbound US 40, southbound Cedar Ridge Road, back to westbound MD 68.

Contractor C. William Hetzer, Inc. of Hagerstown, is performing the work.    

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.  Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes.  Drive like you work here and slowdown in construction zones.
