(February 25, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will perform unscheduled repairs to tonight on the I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) Inner Loop Bridge over Leeds Avenue, US 1 (Southwestern Boulevard) and AMTRAK/MARC rail lines in Arbutus, Baltimore County starting at 9 pm.  This bridge is just north of the I-95 interchange, and the repairs require a phased-in triple lane closure. One lane will remain open during the repairs, and the work is expected to be complete by 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.

MDOT SHA advises motorists to plan for extra travel time on northbound I-695 in Arbutus and to use alternate routes overnight.  All work will be done on the deck of the bridge and will not affect vehicle or rail travel underneath.

Crews will close the lanes on the following schedule tonight:

  • 9 p.m. single left lane closure.
  • 9:45 p.m. double left lane closure.
  • 11 p.m. triple left lane closure until 6 a.m. tomorrow .

Electronic message boards, signs, barrels and cones will alert motorists ahead of the lane closures and work zone.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
