I-270 sign
(October 21, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will make pavement repairs to the northbound and southbound sections of I-270 starting tomorrow night, October 22.
Crews will be working overnight on I-270 southbound between the area south of MD 85 (Buckeystown Pike) and MD 80 (Fingerboard Road), and I-270 northbound between MD 80 to the Montgomery County line just north of MD 109 (Old Hundred Road). The $340,000 project is expected to complete by December.
The project will begin on I-270 southbound, and crews will work 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings. After southbound I-270 is complete, crews will start working on I-270 northbound, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings. The project will require single lane closures.
MDOT SHA’s contractor, C.J. Miller, LLC of Hampstead, will use signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists about the lane closures and guide them through the work zone.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
