UPDATE, June 18, 2020: This work has been postponed.

(June 15, 2020) –The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will temporarily close the Hollins Ferry Road ramp to I-695 (Baltimore Beltway Inner Loop) for approximately 10 weeks as part of MDOT SHA’s ongoing project to rehabilitate the bridge carrying the CSX Transportation rail line over I-695 in southwest Baltimore County. The work is expected to begin by 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17.

The $750,000 rehabilitation project will extend the life of the bridge substructure by:

  • Repairing the center pier, abutments, bridge beam seat, back walls and wing walls
  • Applying protective coating and sealer between new and existing concrete
  • Applying protective coating to all substructure units

MDOT SHA will detour traffic via Hammonds Ferry Road, Nursery Road and the Fairview Avenue ramp to I-695 North. The ramp closure will be in effect 24 hours a day for the remainder of the bridge rehabilitation project. MDOT SHA anticipates the project will be complete by early fall 2020.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction work zones.
