Crews to Detour SB I-270 Ramp Traffic at MD 80 for Three Nights, Beginning Tuesday Night, March 18          
          
(March 17, 2008) – Beginning Tuesday night, March 18, the Monocacy Land Company will install two drainage pipes under the ramps at the I-270/MD 80 (Fingerboard Road) interchange as part of the developer-funded roundabout project required for the Villages of Urbana development in Urbana. To facilitate the safe installation of the pipes, the ramps from southbound I-270 to MD 80 and from MD 80 to southbound I-270 will be closed to traffic this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. each evening. The ramps will reopen to traffic prior to 5 a.m. each day, weather permitting.           
          
The closures are necessary as part of a developer-funded project to construct roundabouts at the end of both the north and southbound I-270 ramps at MD 80 (Fingerboard Road). The roundabouts were required to mitigate increased traffic caused by the new Villages of Urbana development. Detour signs and portable variable message signs will be in place to guide motorists through the work zone this week.           
          
Traffic along southbound I-270 wishing to exit onto MD 80 will be detoured past the interchange to the next southbound interchange, MD 109. Traffic will be directed to turn right onto eastbound MD 109, then left onto northbound MD 355, and then left again onto westbound MD 80. Traffic along MD 80 wishing to access southbound I-270 will be detoured to MD 355 south to MD 109. Traffic will turn right onto westbound MD 109 to the I-270 interchange.
