(June 10, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin installing steel girders tonight for the new deck on the Triadelphia Road bridge over MD 32 (Patuxent Freeway) bridge in Howard County.

The work, scheduled for tonight and tomorrow night, June 11, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., will require double and single lane closures with a flagging operation on MD 32 (Patuxent Freeway) under the Triadelphia Road bridge. The bridge is expected to open to two-way traffic prior to the 2020-2021 school year in late August.

The bridge replacement is part of the $127 million MD 32 Phase II Widening Project that began last summer and is expected to be complete in 2022. The project will construct one new traffic lane in each direction of MD 32 (Patuxent Freeway) between Linden Church Road and the I-70 ramps.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.  Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes.  Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
