(May 26, 2020) – Starting tonight, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close two exit ramps that connect I-270 and MD 85 to perform underground pipe work as part of an $86 million construction project. The ramp from southbound I-270 to northbound MD 85 and the ramp from northbound MD 85 to southbound I-270 will both be closed Monday through Friday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. The work is expected to be complete in mid-June.
MDOT SHA’s $86 million project is replacing two poorly rated bridges on I-270 with a three-span structure and will widen MD 85 between Spectrum Drive and Crestwood Boulevard. The project is expected to be complete in fall 2022.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
