(June 19, 2015) – Weather permitting, construction crews will patch the pavement and make bridge joint repairs at the  northbound MD 10 (Arundel Expressway)/ westbound MD 100 juncture in Anne Arundel County this weekend. The work will require ramp closures, which will take place overnight between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m on Friday night June 19 and Saturday night June 20. All lanes will reopen each morning by 5 a.m.

Both Friday and Saturday nights, traffic wanting to access northbound MD 10 from MD 2 (Ritchie Highway) will be detoured to a right on MD 177 (Mountain Road) to a left onto MD 10.

Additionally, westbound MD 100 traffic approaching the northbound MD 10/westbound MD 100 split will be detoured overnights this weekend.

• During the westbound MD 100 left ramp closure, motorists will be directed to northbound MD 10 to eastbound MD 648 to a right on Mountain Road to a left back onto westbound MD 100.

• During the northbound MD 10 right ramp closure, motorists will be directed to westbound MD 100 to a right on Mountain Road to a left back onto northbound MD 10.

These closures will allow crews to patch potholes and deteriorated pavement and repair the bridge joints on the MD 10 and MD 100 Bridges over Jumpers Hole Road. Motorists are advised to consider MD 2 (Ritchie Highway) as an alternate route during the work.

The construction season is getting into high gear. For a statewide listing of most SHA projects, click here for e-Road Ready 2015.

In addition to this project, drivers may also encounter mobile or short-term work zones. Always expect the unexpected, pay extra close attention and drive slowly through any work zone. Whether it’s a tree trimming operation or a bridge project, be aware when orange is there: Think Orange (the color of construction equipment and signs), stay alert and slow down. Everyone is at risk.

In four out of five work zone-related crashes, it is the driver or passenger who is injured or killed. In 2014, nine people lost their lives in Maryland work zone crashes, including four highway workers. While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to keep traffic safely moving in work zones, please partner with us because work zone safety is everyone’s business – slow down and stay alert. Safer driving. Safer work zones. For everyone.

Those who have questions about this work may contact the SHA District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or by e-mail at shadistrict5@sha.state.md.us.
