WHO: State Highway Administration (SHA) representatives
Area residents, business owners and motorists

WHAT: SHA will host a meeting to update interested parties on the MD 180 (Knoxville Road) Bridge project in Knoxville, Frederick County.

WHEN: Thursday, October 30, 2008 between 6: 30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

WHY: In June 2008, SHA began construction to replace the MD 180 Bridge over the tributary of the Potomac River. During construction, crews discovered that the retaining wall (a wall structure which holds back rock and soil and prevents erosion) supporting MD 180 and several driveways, was beginning to deteriorate.

SHA anticipates the closure extending for several months, possibly through next spring. Interested persons are encouraged to attend the meeting to provide input on historical properties in the Knoxville Historic District and present concerns to the project team. Anyone who needs special assistance to participate, please contact Project Engineer Ken Sukow at 301-703-2409, toll-free at 1-800-635-5119 or ksukow@sha.state.md.us no later than Monday, October 27.
