(May 20, 2013) – The annual
e-Road Ready construction brochure is online and available to help motorists navigate work zones in Maryland. The State Highway Administration (SHA) is beginning many projects across the state and this resource helps motorists plan ahead.
“No one likes to sit in traffic,” said SHA Administrator Melinda B. Peters. “In addition to other information sources such as MD 511, e-Road Ready is a useful tool to safely guide motorists around construction zones and reduce time sitting in traffic.”
Hundreds of work zones will be in place this summer driving season – from large bridge replacement projects to smaller, mobile work zones such as tree trimming projects. The online brochure also highlights construction zones that are equipped with Maryland Safe Zones Automated Speed Enforcement. Safely navigating work zones is a priority for SHA. In most cases, it’s the driver or passenger who is injured in work zones crashes.
The brochure also provides links to many new features including project web pages, Maryland’s Scenic Byways routes and State and local government agencies.
Other resources to help motorists make informed decisions about key travel routes include
MD511.org and
1-877-Bay-Span. Sign up to personalize travel route information through MY511 on the website. Remember to use 511 safely – Maryland law prohibits hand-held mobile phone use and texting while driving.
