October 20 - MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) northbound will remain closed at West Nursery Road through Saturday morning. The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) originally planned to reopen MD 295 by 6 a.m. Saturday, but more time is needed to safely remove the West Nursery Road bridge over the northbound lanes. The southbound lanes were reopened as planned prior to 6 a.m. Saturday. SHA will issue updates on Saturday advising motorists of traffic conditions and an anticipated opening time for MD 295 northbound at West Nursery Road.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead and use I-97 or I-95 for their weekend travel. Motorists accessing BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport from the east can use I-97 to MD 176 (Dorsey Road) and follow the "Airport Loop" signs. Motorists accessing the airport from the west should use I-95 to I-195 to the terminal. Travelers passing through the area or to any of the major sporting events in Baltimore, Washington or Annapolis should use I-95 or I-97. For more information on the West Nursery Road bridge move project and local detour routes to reach BWI Business District businesses, visit www.roads.maryland.gov.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer driving. Safer work zones. For everyone!
