(May 16, 2012) – Starting tonight, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will resurface one and one-half miles of MD 213 (Augustine Herman Highway) just south of Chesapeake City.  Work is expected to be complete by the end of the month.  Crews may need to close a single lane along MD 213 weeknights between  7 p.m. and  6 a.m. SHA crews will use portable dynamic message signs (DMS), traffic cones and barrels and flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone.

SHA’s contractor for the work is American Infrastructure, Inc., of Fallston.  The portion of MD 213 being resurfaced is between south of the Cecil County Paramedic Station to the C&D Canal Bridge in Chesapeake City.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes.  Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer and alert driving benefits everyone.
