(April 4, 2012) – This week, the State Highway Administration (SHA) began resurfacing several roadways in Queen Anne’s County and weather permitting, nearly $1.7 million of work will be complete by the end of June.

SHA will grind, patch, resurface and install new pavement markings on sections of MD 19 (Roberts Station Road), MD 481 (Damstontown Road), MD 405 (Price Station Road) and MD 302 (Barclay Road).  The project limits of the roadways to be resurfaced include:

• MD 19 between US 301 (Blue Star Memorial Highway) and MD 405 (Price Station Road) in Church Hill (two miles - $359,000);

• MD 481 between MD 309 (Starr Road) and MD 304 (Ruthsburg Road) near Tuckahoe State Park (five  miles - $640,000);

• MD 405 between US 301 and German Branch Road in Price (two miles – $320,000);

• MD 302 between Busic Church Road to the Caroline County line in Barclay (two miles -$350,000); and

• MD 405 between MD 304 and Shaw Road in Bridgetown (Approximately one mile of patching -- $34,000).

SHA awarded the projects to American Infrastructure of Fallston.  Lane closures are possible on all projects Monday through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SHA will use variable message boards, temporary signs, cones and barrels, along with flagging operations to guide motorists through the work zone.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.   Safer driving. Safer work zones. For everyone.
