WHAT:
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is hosting an informational public meeting to inform Aberdeen-area residents and businesses about ongoing and future construction activities and major traffic pattern changes at the US 40 (Pulaski Highway/Philadelphia Boulevard) / MD 715 (Short Lane) interchange near the Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG).

WHEN:
Wednesday, February 15, 2012 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

WHERE:
Aberdeen Middle School – Cafeteria, 111 Mount Royal Avenue, Aberdeen

WHY:
In fall 2010 SHA began the first phase of a two-phase, $18 million project to improve safety and traffic operations at the interchange and widen MD 715 between the US 40 interchange and APG’s Maryland Gate.

This spring, SHA will begin the second phase of work and temporarily close and relocate/detour the ramp from eastbound US 40 to southbound MD 715.  The one-year ramp closure and detour will allow construction crews to safely perform work at the interchange, relocate a stream adjacent to US 40 and reconstruct and widen the ramp from US 40 east to MD 715 South.

This ramp will be widened from one to three lanes, and SHA will provide a new spur ramp to MD 715 North.  Displays will be available to illustrate the project and the ramp detour and SHA project staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.  Attendees may arrive at any time during the meeting and walk through the displays at their own pace.
