(February 10, 2012) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is ready again to deal with a wintry mix of precipitation anticipated this weekend.  The statewide forecast varies from rain to a rain/snow mix to all snow.  SHA is remaining vigilant, making necessary regional preparations and will continue to make public safety and safe roads the highest priority.

“Yet again, Maryland is divided by the rain/snow scenario this weekend and SHA will respond accordingly,” said SHA Administrator Melinda Peters.  “Crews are poised to respond to whatever precipitation falls.  Motorists should again have alternate plans Saturday if the storm brings snow accumulation.”

Although the latest forecast suggests the precipitation will begin as rain overnight, snow is expected to develop across most of central and Western Maryland quickly on Saturday morning or afternoon.  Motorists are reminded to never pass a snow plow or plow train.
