(January 23, 2012) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close the east and westbound lanes of the US 50 (Harry W. Kelley) Bridge to Ocean City mid-day tomorrow, Tuesday, January 24 for routine bridge maintenance.

Both sides of the drawbridge will open for about five minutes each at separate times, temporarily closing the bridge to traffic between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.   Other maintenance work will be conducted on the bridge between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  Crews will perform regularly scheduled maintenance including: routine lubrication, filter changes, generator maintenance and checking the navigational lights on the bridge.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers need to actively modify their driving styles to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.   Safer driving.  Safer work zones. For everyone.
