(January 12, 2012) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) will resurface approximately 200 feet of northbound US 13 at the MD 362 (Mount Vernon Road) intersection in Somerset County on Friday, January 13.  The pavement was damaged when a fuel truck overturned and was engulfed in flames on Tuesday afternoon.

American Paving, Inc. of Eden will repair the pavement.  Crews will use variable message signs, cones and barrels to direct temporary single lane closures during the resurfacing repairs until the project is completed by sundown on Friday.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.   Safer driving. Safer work zones. For everyone.
