(January 6, 2012) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) announced today that the final phase of guardrail replacement along MD 90 between US 113 and MD 589 will continue through Thursday, January 12th.  During work hours in this last phase all eastbound MD 90 traffic into Ocean City will not be affected.  Westbound traffic on MD 90 will be closed during the nighttime work hours only.

Westbound MD 90 work will be performed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. five consecutive nights from Sunday, January 8th through Thursday, January 12th weather permitting.

All westbound traffic along MD 528 (Coastal Highway) will detour to US 50 west during the lane closure.  Signage will be positioned along US 50, US 113, MD 589 and St. Martin Neck Road advising motorists of the westbound road closure and directing traffic along detours to points west.  The $1 million guardrail replacement contract was awarded to L.S. Lee, Inc. of York, Pa.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.  Safer driving. Safer work zones.  For everyone.
