For Two Weeks, Motorists Can Expect Overnight Single-Lane Closures
(August 1, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin installing guardrail along a section of MD 140 (Baltimore Boulevard) between MD 91 and just south of Old Westminster Pike in Finksburg on Sunday, August 4. The work is part of an ongoing corridor study and is expected to be complete within two weeks, weather permitting.
Starting Sunday at 9 p.m., crews will begin working on MD 140 between MD 91 and an area south of Old Westminster Pike. They will close both left lanes during work hours, which will be Sundays through Thursdays, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Long Fence is the contractor performing the work which includes drilling through the concrete median. Once complete, the 1,500-foot guardrail and end treatment will offer an additional safety measure in the corridor.
The installation of the guardrail is part of an ongoing corridor study of MD 140 in Finksburg. Other improvements include the modifications to a traffic signal at the intersection of MD 140 and MD 91 (Emory Road). Learn more about that project by clicking here.
