Overnight and Daytime Closures Anticipated for May 7-12

(May 4, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will implement overnight interchange ramp and lane closures Sunday night through Friday morning, May 7–12, within the I-95/I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) interchange in the Arbutus area of Baltimore County.

The closures are required as part of the ongoing rehabilitation project for 10 bridges within the interchange. All construction work and lane closures are weather permitting. Beginning Sunday evening, motorists can expect the following:

Overnight Lane Closures, May 7-11

  • Northbound and Southbound I-95 at I-695: Motorists can expect overnight single-lane closures between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. and double left-lane closures between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day, Sunday through Thursday, May 7-11.
  • Eastbound I-695 (Outer Loop) at I-95: Motorists can expect overnight single-lane closures between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day, Sunday through Thursday, May 7-11.

Daytime Lane Closures, May 8-12

  • Sulphur Spring Road under I-95: Motorists can expect daytime lane shifts and/or lane closures with flagging operations to control two-way traffic between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, May 8-12.

The project includes installation of new deck pavement surfaces and replacement of concrete traffic barriers and parapets. Contractor Wagman Heavy Civil Inc., of York, Pa., will perform the work. Learn more about the project here

The State Highway Administration understands the closures will inconvenience some travelers and asks motorists to please stay alert and be patient as you pass through the work zones. Crews will use digital message boards, temporary signs, and barrels to direct drivers safely through the area. All work is weather permitting and is expected to be complete by the end of the week.
