MD 26 sign
Project Requires Overnight Closure and Detour of MD 26 Intersection
(April 17, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will repair a failed drainage pipe under MD 26 (Liberty Road) at Bessie Clemson Road near Libertytown, Frederick County, overnight Wednesday, April 19.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Wednesday, crews will close both directions of MD 26 at the intersection to begin removing the failed pipe and replace it with a new pipe. The work is expected to be complete by 5 a.m. Thursday, April 20. Motorists on MD 26 will be detoured using MD 31 (New Windsor Road) and Clemsonville Road.
The State Highway Administration’s Frederick Shop will use electronic signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists about the road closure and guide them through the detour route. The department understands roadwork can be an inconvenience, but the work is necessary to ensure a safe and reliable transportation system.
As spring arrives, all motorists are urged to remain vigilant for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists. Remember that motorcycles can be hidden from view in vehicle blind spots. Please look twice and save a life.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
