April 26 Virtual Meeting
(April 17, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will host a virtual public meeting 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, to share information and answer questions about the planned safety and intersection improvement project at the MD 223 (Piscataway Road) and Floral Park Road intersection in the Clinton/Accokeek area of Prince George’s County.
MD 223 Floral Park Roundabout
The goal of the project is to enhance traffic operation and safety for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists through the installation of a roundabout.
The new single-lane roundabout at the MD 223 and Floral Park Road intersection will feature right-turn lanes approaching northbound Piscataway Road and westbound Floral Park Road. The project also includes addition of pedestrian/bicyclist crosswalks at every approach to the roundabout and bike ramps tying into existing paths south of the intersection. Installation of storm drains and landscaping also are part of this project. The final design is expected to be complete this fall and construction is scheduled to begin spring/summer 2024.
“Safety and accessibility are crucial in creating a transportation system that works for all users, from drivers to pedestrians to bicyclists,” said Maryland Transportation Secretary Paul J. Wiedefeld. “Working with residents and others in the community, we can create solutions that benefit everyone who travels through this busy part of the county.”
“The agency is committed to providing our customers with safe and reliable multimodal transportation options,” said State Highway Administrator Tim Smith. “We encourage the public to take part in the virtual meeting to learn about the project and how to stay informed.”
