Daytime Project Covers Three Miles of Roadway Near Taneytown
(April 17, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project tomorrow, Tuesday, April 18, to repair about three miles of pavement on MD 140 (Taneytown Pike) between Mayberry Road and the roundabout at MD 832 (Old Taneytown Road) near Taneytown in Carroll County.
Crews will work weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a flagging operation in place during work hours. Both directions of travel will be maintained on MD 140. The project is expected to take two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
State Highway Administration contractor, C.J. Miller LLC, based in Hampstead, will use electronic signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists about the project and guide them through the work zone. Motorists are asked to be patient and stay alert in the work zone.
This pavement repair is separate from the State Highway Administration’s ongoing intersection improvement project on MD 140 at Mayberry Road. Details on that project are available here.
As spring arrives, all motorists are urged to remain vigilant for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists. Remember that motorcycles can be hidden from view in vehicle blind spots. Please look twice and save a life.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
