Brief Closures Required for Worker Safety; Westbound US 50 Access Impacted
(June 9, 2026) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will resurface sections of three roads in Queen Anne’s County this week. Work includes milling, paving and striping at the following locations:
- Exit 42 ramp from US 50 westbound to Kent Narrows Way. The ramp will be closed to all traffic on Tuesday 6/9 for milling and Thursday 6/11 for paving and striping. Westbound US 50 drivers wishing to access local businesses should continue on US 50 across the Kent Narrows bridge, taking Exit 41 to MD 18 east. Return access to westbound US 50 is also via Exit 41. Access to the Holiday Inn will be maintained at all times.
- MD 456 (Del Rhodes Ave) from US 301 to MD 656 (Friels Rd). MD 456 will be CLOSED for milling on Wednesday 6/10 and CLOSED for paving on Friday 6/12. Local access will be maintained during milling operations.
- MD 656 from Outlet Center Dr to MD 456. MD 656 will be CLOSED for milling on Wednesday 6/10 and CLOSED for paving on Friday 6/12.
Work hours for all locations are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. All roads will be reopened at the end of each workday, weather permitting.
The State Highway Administration is Serious About Safety. Pedestrians and motorists are urged to remain alert and avoid distractions when traveling through the work zone. Motorists should obey all posted speed limits. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
