Reconstructed Bridge Completed Ahead of Schedule

(March 24, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will reopen the MD 77 (Rocky Ridge Rd) bridge over Beaver Branch and under the Maryland Midland Railroad in northern Frederick County to traffic as early as March 25, one month ahead of schedule.

The MD 77 bridge closed to traffic on September 29, 2025, to replace the structure. Crews removed the old structure and constructed a new one, which was originally constructed in 1928.

The $7.1 million project is expected to be completed this spring. The remaining work includes landscaping. Brawner Builders, Inc., based in Hunt Valley, is the primary contractor on the project.
