Beginning Wednesday, June 5 at 10 p.m., the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will patch, resurface and restripe southbound I-270 ramps at MD 80 (Fingerboard Road) in Ijamsville. The $100,000 project will be complete by June 12. Crews will work between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. with the exception of Friday and Saturday night.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, F.O. Day Company, Inc. of Rockville, will close  and detour the ramps (using the MD 109/Old Hundred Road) interchange) from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. so crews can complete the work. Crews will also resurface the MD 80 roundabout and maintain traffic with a flagging operation. There will be no work on Friday or Saturday nights.  Approximately 84,000 vehicles travel on this section of I-270 each day but volumes decrease significantly overnight.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our contractor. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on the road and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Drive like you work here and slowdown in construction zones.
