(November 17, 2014) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is repairing and resurfacing pavement on a two-mile section of MD 144 (Frederick Road) between North Rolling Road and River Road.  Work began last week and will be complete by the late fall.

The work includes milling (removing the top layer of pavement), patching and resurfacing the pavement. SHA’s contractor for the $1 million project is Gray and Son, Inc. of Timonium.

Crews are permitted to work between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and between 6 a.m. and noon on Saturdays if necessary. Motorists may encounter temporary lane closures on Frederick Road and the contractor will use flaggers, barrels, cones and signs to direct two-way traffic through the one-lane work area.

Citizens who have questions about highway maintenance on MD 144 or any other State highway in Baltimore County may contact SHA’s District 4 Office – Maintenance Division in Hunt Valley at 410-229-2360, toll-free at 1-866-998-0367 or by e-mail: shadistrict4@sha.state.md.us.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
