(April 17, 2012) – On Thursday, April 19, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin resurfacing MD 904 F (Emmit Gardens Drive) between southbound US 15 (Catoctin Mountain Highway) and MD 140 (Taneytown Pike) in Emmitsburg.  Additionally, SHA will resurface the ramps within the US 15/MD 140 interchange near Silo Hill.  Weather permitting the work will be complete by Friday, April 27.

During daytime hours, SHA will temporarily close ramps at the interchange to mill and resurface.  Traffic will be detoured to a right turn on Creamery Road to MD 140 and back to southbound   US 15.  Work will take place Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.  Crews will use drums, cones and a flagging operation to guide motorists through the work zone.

SHA awarded the $200,000 contract to C.W. Hetzer of Hagerstown.  Customers who have questions about traffic operations on MD 904 F, US 15 or other State numbered routes in Frederick County, may call SHA’s District 7 Office at 301-624-8100 or toll free at 1-800-635-5119.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.   Safer driving.  Safer work zones.  For everyone.
