(September 16, 2011) – Tonight at 9 p.m., the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will repair the left lane of northbound MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) between I-195 and I-695 (Baltimore Beltway).  Work will consist of repairing the concrete pavement on MD 295 that takes a minimum of 12 hours to cure under ideal conditions before the lane can be reopened to traffic.

Motorists should expect delays in this area through Sunday, September 18.  SHA will start the lane closure prior to I-195.  Motorists traveling northbound MD 295 to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport will still be able to use the I-195 east exit ramp but should allow extra time or consider alternate routes to the airport such as I-95 to I-195 east or I-97 to MD 176 west.  Motorists planning to use northbound MD 295 beyond the airport should plan ahead and consider alternate routes such as I-95, I-97 or
US 1.

Southbound lanes of MD 295 will be unaffected by this work.

This patching work is part of the upgrade and widening of MD 295 from two to three lanes in each direction between I-195 and I-695.  An average of 90,000 vehicles travel this part of MD 295 each day.  SHA awarded the $12 million contract for this project to P. Flanigan and Sons of Baltimore.  Completion is expected this fall.
