Portions of MD 313 and MD 213 to be Resurfaced This Summer

(June 17, 2009) – As part of an areawide contract comprising three resurfacing projects in Kent County, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) recently began resurfacing two sections of MD 313 (Galena Road). Later this summer, SHA will resurface a section of MD 213 (Augustine Herman Highway). These projects are all funded through $2.3 million provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.

Work on all of these resurfacing projects is scheduled to take place weekdays between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. During construction, motorists should expect temporary single lane closures, shoulder closures and lane shifts. Sections to be resurfaced include:

• Nearly two miles of MD 313 between MD 330 (Maryland Line Road) and US 301 (Blue Star Highway). Completion expected in early July, weather permitting.
• Nearly four miles of MD 313 between the Queen Anne’s County Line and MD 330. Completion expected in mid-July, weather permitting.
• Four miles of MD 213 between MD 561 (Lynch Road) and Creamery Street. Work to begin later this summer (dates to be announced).

SHA awarded this contract to David A. Bramble, Inc. Schedules, dates and work times for all projects are subject to change depending on weather and contractor schedules.

Statewide, ARRA funded projects are stimulating Maryland’s economy by providing and preserving thousands of jobs. They are producing long-term cost savings by extending roadway service life, while improving safety and ride quality. Citizens with questions about MD 213, MD 313 or other state-maintained roadways in Kent County may contact SHA’s District 2 Office at 1-800-637-9740 or 410-410-778-3061.
