What must a driver do when encountering a school bus stopped on the road? What is a driver required to do when approaching a crosswalk?  What happens to traffic fines in a Maryland school zone?  Most motorists think they know the answers – but do they really know the “rules of the road” when it comes to back to school safety?

Transportation Secretary Beverley K. Swaim-Staley, with the help of students at Hilltop Elementary School near BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, will provide a “refresher course” for motorists, parents and students by highlighting the “rules of the road” that are designed to keep Maryland’s children safe.

Attended by school children, faculty, local and state law enforcement and safety advocates, speakers will highlight safety tips on everything from driving near buses and crosswalks to speeding fines and pedestrian and bicyclist safety.
