(July 1, 2010) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) later this month will close sections of MD 302 (Barclay Road) in Queen Anne’s County and MD 308 (S. Main Street) in Caroline County for railroad crossing repair work.  Each crossing repair is expected to take three or four workdays to complete, weather permitting.
  • July 6-9:  MD 302 in Barclay will be closed at the railroad crossing just west of MD 313.  Traffic will be detoured using Roe Road and Cosden Road.
  • July 20-23:  MD 308 in Federalsburg will be closed at the railroad crossing just south of Railroad Avenue.  Traffic will be detoured using MD 313 (Reliance Avenue) and MD 306 (Central Avenue).
These repairs are part of a larger contract to upgrade seven railroad crossings in Caroline, Kent and Queen Anne’s counties on Maryland’s eastern shore.  The railroad tracks are owned by the Maryland Transit Administration and operated by the Maryland & Delaware Railroad Company.  Bullock Construction, Inc. of Easton is the contractor.  Detour signs will be posted.

The remaining crossings to be upgraded under the contract include Back Street in Millington (July 17-19) and a private business entrance/crossing in Millington (July 20-22).  Crossing work was completed in June on Kennedyville Road in Kennedyville, MD 298 (Browntown Road) in Kennedyville and Peters Corner Road south of Millington.
