(June 28, 2010) – Today, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) began resurfacing and safety improvement project on approximately one mile of MD 180 (Jefferson Pike) between Lander Road and MD 383 (Broad Run Road). Weather permitting, SHA expects to complete the $250,000 project in late July.

Motorists will be directed using a flagging operation Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.  SHA will provide variable message signs, drums, and flagpersons to guide motorists through the work zone.

The two-lane section of MD 180 carries more than 4,400 vehicles each day and was last resurfaced in 2000.  SHA awarded the contract to F.O. Day Inc. of Rockville.

Citizens who have questions about traffic operations along MD 180, MD 383, or other State-numbered routes in Frederick County may call SHA’s District 7 Office at 301-624-8100 or toll free at 1-800-635-5119.  For additional information on projects in Frederick County, visit SHA’s website roads.maryland.gov to learn more about highway projects in the area.
