(April 22, 2010) – On or about April 26, the Frederick County Department of Public Works will temporarily close one of the two lanes on MD 28 (Tuscarora Road) near the New Design Road intersection in southern Frederick County.  The lane closure is part of a Frederick County project to improve drainage and will be in place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through April 28, weather permitting.

The temporary closure is necessary to facilitate construction as crews install a stormwater management pipe beneath both lanes of the road.  The eastbound lane will close first, followed by the westbound lane.  Flaggers, variable message signs, barrels, and temporary signs will guide motorists through the work zone.  Approximately 3,000 vehicles travel along this section of MD 28 each day; motorists should expect and prepare for travel delays.

Remember that work zones are not only large construction projects possibly taking years to complete, but smaller, mobile operations such as mowing, pothole repair and litter pick-ups.  Choose to make work zone safety your business at www.choosesafetyforlife.com.
