​Drivers Can Expect an Overnight Posted Detour until Friday Morning

(October 19, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will temporarily close US 13 Business (S. Salisbury Boulevard) between E. Carroll Street and E. Main Street overnight on Thursday, October 22, as part of the US 13 Business bridge replacement project over the Wicomico River​. 

Drivers can expect the one-night closure to begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The road will reopen no later than 6 a.m. on Friday, October 23, weather permitting. Motorists traveling on US 13 Business (S. Salisbury Boulevard) will be directed to E. Main Street, E. Carroll Street, MD 12 (Snow Hill Road) as the detour route.  Drivers should plan additional driving time during the closure. 

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, George & Lynch, Inc. of Dover DE, will use reflective barrels, temporary traffic signs, variable message sign boards and flaggers to detour traffic around the project limits.  

The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow Down and move over in work zones. It’s the law.
