​Expect 24-Hour Lane Shifts and Temporary Closures Through October 

(September 24, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will remove and resurface segments of concrete and asphalt pavement along eastbound I-70 Local (MD 570) ​from east of I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) to the Baltimore City/County line near the Park and Ride Lot in Baltimore City. Work may begin as soon as 8 p.m. Sunday night, September 27. The project is expected to be completed by mid-October, weather permitting.  

Once work starts, crews will spend the next two weeks removing and resurfacing segments of concrete and asphalt pavement where needed along eastbound I-70 Local. They will work continuously with temporary lane shifts and/or temporary lane closures in effect with up to 24-hour lane closures while sections of concrete are poured, cured and tested for safe operations.   

The concrete work on eastbound I-70 Local will last approximately one week, followed by asphalt paving work, with temporary lane shifts and closures in effect Sunday nights through Thursday mornings, 8 p.m. - 5 a.m. for asphalt paving.    

The State Highway Administration’s primary contractor for the $252,000 areawide paving project is Allan Myers MD, Inc. of Fallston. Contractor crews will use temporary traffic signs and cones to control traffic through the work zone.
