***TRAFFIC ALERT*** STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TO CLOSE SECTION OF MD 707 (GRAYS CORNER ROAD) FOR UTILITY INSPECTIONS AND REPAIRS BEGINNING TUESDAY

​Motorists Can Expect Delays until Friday 

(September 24, 2026) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will close a section of MD 707 (Grays Corner Road) on Tuesday, September 29, so the Worcester County Department of Public Works can perform utility inspections and repairs. The work, which will require a closure on MD 707 between MD 589 (Racetrack Road) and Riddle Lane in Berlin, is expected to be complete by Friday, October 2, weather permitting. 

Starting Tuesday, the county’s contractor, Groundwork Solutions, Inc. of Berlin, will work between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily, until the work has been completed. Atlantic Traffic Safety, Inc. of Berlin, MD, will use variable message signs, arrow boards, and cones to safely guide motorists through the detour route to US 50 (Ocean Gateway).  

The State Highway Administration understands detours and roadwork can be an inconvenience for some motorists but is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable transportation system. Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
