​Expect Overnight Closure of US 29 Ramp to Broken Land Parkway 

(May 14, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is starting a project to improve the driving surface of the northbound US 29 ramps to the eastbound and westbound directions of Broken Land Parkway in Columbia. The work will begin this Sunday, May 17 and be completed by June, weather permitting.   

Crews will work weeknights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. The northbound  US 29 ramp to both directions of Broken Land Parkway will close starting at 10 p.m. on work nights. The detour route will direct motorists to continue on northbound US 29 and use MD 175 to access southbound US 29 for exits to Broken Land Parkway.  

The State Highway Administration is Serious About Safety.  Pedestrians and motorists are urged to remain alert and avoid distractions when traveling through the work zone. Motorists should obey all posted speed limits. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.​
