Motorists Advised to Plan for Extra Travel Time on Weekdays and Stay Alert for Flagging Operations

(December 16, 2009) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin a $185,000 project to repair pavement along MD 7 (Philadelphia Road) between MD 543 (Riverside Parkway) and MD 136 (Calvary Road) in eastern Harford County.  Weather permitting, the project will begin on or about Thursday, December 17.  Crews will perform roadway patching along sections of MD 7 through late February, weather permitting. 

During construction, sections of Philadelphia Road between Riverside Parkway and Calvary Road will be reduced to one lane with flagpersons controlling two-way traffic within the work zone.  Lane closures and flagging operations may take place at any time between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.   Patching work and lane closures will not occur on the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

This project is made possible through Governor O’Malley’s aggressive management of the requirements of the landmark American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).  This project, together with other ARRA projects, is stimulating Maryland’s economy by preserving and creating thousands of jobs.  The State’s contractor for the project is Gray and Son, Inc. of Timonium.
