Closure is Necessary as Part of the Bridge Project; Drivers can Expect a Nighttime Posted Detour on December 30

(December 29, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will temporarily close the US 13 Business (S. Salisbury Boulevard) between E. Carroll Street and E. Main Street. The closure and detour are necessary as part of the US 13 Business bridge over Wicomico River project. Drivers can expect the one-night closure at 7 p.m. on December 30. The road will reopen no later than 6 a.m. on December 31, weather permitting.

Motorists traveling on US 13 Business (S. Salisbury Boulevard) will be directed to E. Main Street, E. Carroll Street, MD 12 (Snow Hill Road) as the detours route. Drivers should plan additional driving time during the closure.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, George & Lynch, Inc. of Dover, DE, will use reflective barrels, temporary traffic signs, variable message sign boards, and flaggers to detour traffic around the project limits.

The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow Down and move over in work zones. It’s the law.
