Project Requires Single-Lane Closures; Motorists Should Expect Delays, Seek Alternate Routes

(October 15, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will improve the driving surface across the northbound US 15 bridge over MD 77 (W. Main St) in Thurmont, Frederick County over the next two weekends.

Starting Friday, October 17 at 7 p.m., crews will close the left lane and shoulder to traffic. The closure will extend through the weekend, ending by 5 a.m. on Monday, October 20. This work will continue with the same closures on the following weekend, from 7 p.m. on Friday, October 24, and ending by 5 a.m. on Monday, October 27.  The work is weather dependent and may require a third weekend of work if rain causes a delay.

Motorists are advised to expect delays during the lane closure and weekend work. Please seek alternate routes, if possible.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
