Drivers Can Expect Weekend Left-Lane Closures on US 40 Over I-70
(October 1, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin working weekends to paint the US 40 bridge over I-70 near Hagerstown. This project is expected to be complete by the end of December, weather permitting.
Crews from Triton Construction, Inc. from St. Albans, West Virginia will be working through the weekends from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. using a single, left-lane closure to allow painting crews to access the needed areas of the bridge for painting. Signs, construction barrels, and cones will be used to identify the work zone.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
