(September 23, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin pavement improvement projects at several locations in the City of Bowie starting Wednesday. The projects include micro surfacing, a type of road surface treatment to extend service life of the roadway. All locations are anticipated to be complete by late fall, weather permitting.
Drivers can expect single- and double- lane closures on weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flagging operations will be in effect as needed. Additional lane closures and work hours may be necessary to expedite all phases of work to keep projects on schedule. The contractor for these projects is Allan Myers of Dover, Del.
The locations are as follows:
This work supports the Maryland Department of Transportation’s
Serious About Safety initiative, an agency-wide effort that focuses on advocacy, education, project development and implementation to enhance safety for all roadway users.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes. Motorcyclists are urged to be aware of uneven pavement surfaces during the projects.
