Ramp Closures and Detours Begin 9 p.m. Thursday
(September 3, 2025) - The Maryland State Highway Administration will temporarily close two ramps at the eastbound US 50 (John Hanson Highway) interchange with Exit 29 (MD 179 - Saint Margarets Road) starting at 9 p.m. Thursday night, September 4 for interchange lighting repairs.
Portable variable message signs and temporary traffic signs will guide drivers along the signed detours:
- Eastbound US 50 ramp to MD 179: Drivers will be redirected to continue along eastbound US 50 to Exit 30 (Whitehall Road) to reach Saint Margarets Road.
- Buschs Frontage Road ramp to eastbound US 50: Drivers will be redirected to continue along eastbound Buschs Frontage Road to Exit 30 (Whitehall Road) to reach eastbound US 50.
Both interchange ramps will open to traffic no later than 5 a.m. the following morning, weather permitting. Customers may call the District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or 1-800-331-5603 for additional information.
