Railroad Company’s Track Work Requires a Weekend Closure of MD 194
(August 20, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will assist with a Frontier Railroad project to repair train tracks across MD 194 (Francis Scott Key Highway) south of the MD 77 (Middleburg Road) in
Keymar, Carroll County beginning this weekend.
Starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, August 22, the railroad company will close this section of MD 194 throughout the weekend, with work expected to be completed by 3 p.m. on Monday, August 25, weather permitting.
During the weekend work and road closure, motorists will be detoured using Detour Road and MD 77. Frontier Railroad will use electronic sign boards, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the road closure and direct them to the detour route.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
