​Expect Overnight Lane Closures in Both Directions of MD 22 near US 40 Interchange through Fall 2025 

(July 2, 2025) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project to clean and paint the eastbound and westbound MD 22 (Aberdeen Thruway) bridges over the single freight rail track immediately west of US 40 (Pulaski Highway / Philadelphia Boulevard) and Rogers Street in Aberdeen, Harford County in early July. The $273,000 project will be complete by late summer, weather permitting.    

Beginning as soon as Monday, July 7, contractor crews will begin the project. Motorists can expect overnight single-lane closures along eastbound and westbound MD 22 in the vicinity of the US 40 interchange and Rogers Avenue ​Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m.-5 a.m.    

The work on MD 22 in Aberdeen is part of the State Highway Administration’s $2.8 million contract for cleaning and painting bridges on state highways within Baltimore and Harford Counties. Contractor Reglas Painting Co. of Dundalk will perform the work.    

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes. ​
