Motorists Can Expect Daytime Single-Lane Closures and Flagging Operations on MD 145 (Paper Mill Road) east of the Torrey C. Brown NCR Rail Trail through early 2026

(May 14, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will soon begin a bridge cleaning and painting project on the modern steel arch cable suspension MD 145 (Paper Mill Road) bridge over the Gunpowder Falls in the Phoenix area of Baltimore County. The $370,000 project will start as soon as Monday morning, May 19, and is expected to be completed in early 2026, weather permitting.

Motorists can expect daytime single-lane closures along with flagging operations along MD 145 in the vicinity of the bridge (between east of the Torrey C. Brown NCR Rail Trail and west of Poplar Hill Road), Mondays through Fridays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Contractor Reglas Painting Co., of Dundalk, will also use temporary traffic signs and cones to guide motorists through the work zone.

The MD 145 bridge painting project is part of the State Highway Administration’s $1.4 million contract to clean and paint three bridges on state highways within Baltimore and Harford counties.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
