Drivers Can Expect Off-Peak Daytime and Nighttime Lane Closures
(April 10, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration has started pavement improvement projects at several locations in Prince George’s County. All projects are anticipated to be complete before the end of spring, weather permitting.
The projects include removing the top layer of asphalt, paving, patching and restriping. Some of the projects may also include concrete work on ramps, curbs/gutters and sidewalk reconstruction. The project also includes areas of pavement rehabilitation to extend a reliable service life and improved ride quality.
Drivers can expect single-lane closures during off-peak hours, weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and overnights, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. There may be additional lane closures and work hours may be necessary to expedite all phases of work to keep projects on schedule.
The projects are as follows:

The State Highway Administration recognizes the inconvenience to the traveling public, but these projects are necessary to keep the state highway system safe and in a state of good repair. Motorcyclists are urged to be aware of uneven pavement surfaces during the projects. The State Highway Administration’s contractor for these resurfacing projects is Allan Myers of Dover, Delaware.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
