(October 10, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will temporarily close and detour two interchange ramps at the I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) interchange at Edmondson Avenue in the Catonsville area of Baltimore County for ramp resurfacing work.

Drivers should expect the following ramp closures/detours at the I-695/Edmondson Avenue interchange Sunday night, October 13 and Monday night, October 14, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.:

  • Edmondson Avenue ramp to Northbound I-695 (Inner Loop)
    • Detour: Take Edmondson Avenue ramp to southbound I-695 (Outer Loop); proceed on southbound I-695 to ramp to MD 144 (Frederick Road); take eastbound MD 144 through interchange to ramp to northbound I-695.
  • Northbound I-695 (Inner Loop) ramp to Edmondson Avenue
    • Detour: Proceed on northbound I-695 past Edmondson Avenue, take ramp to westbound US 40 (Baltimore National Pike); take westbound US 40 through interchange to southbound I-695 (Outer Loop) and proceed on southbound I-695 back to Edmondson Avenue.

In case of inclement weather, the work and detours will take place on the next possible weeknight (Sunday – Thursday).

This work is part of the State Highway Administration’s $8.8 million project to construct a new noise wall along northbound I-695 between MD 144 (Frederick Road) and US 40 (Baltimore National Pike).  For more information on the project, go to the Project Portal Page: I-695 (Baltimore Bltwy) MD 144 (Frederick Rd) to US 40 (Balto National Pike) Noise Wall Project.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor is Brawner Builders, Inc. of Hunt Valley, MD.

Weather permitting, the noise wall project will be complete late fall 2024.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
